Chelsea agreed £20 million deal to sign Carney Chukwuemeka.
The Blues have beaten the likes of AC Milan and Barcelona to sign the Aston Villa wonderkid this summer marking their third summer signing.
Chelsea will pay a reported fee of £20 million for the 18-year-old midfielder.
He initially joined Aston Villa academy from Northampton Town in March 2016 and signed a professional contract in 2020.
He had one year remaining on his deal and rejected multiple offers from Villa to sign an extension.
The youngster made 12 Premier League appearances last season and will undergo to facilitate the transfer.
Even Villa manager Steven Gerrard was reluctant to let go one of the best young talents in English football.
“Carney is yet to sign a contract offer that has been in place for some time now,” Gerrard explained to Villa TV before the tour. “I’ve decided the best thing for him would be to continue his training programme back at Bodymoor.”
“Hopefully he is going to be a big player for Aston Villa.”
“We want him to stay here long-term. We believe this is the best place for Carney. I hope that situation progresses in a positive way.”
