Cyril Dessers Joins newly promoted Serie A side US Cremonese

Nigeria forward, Cyriel Dessers has travelled to Italy to complete his transfer to Serie A club, Cremonese.

The forward joined from Genk for €6.5 millions and contracted until 2027.

Dessers has started the season on an impressive note, netting three goals in three outings for the Smurf

The player has however set his mind on leaving the Ex-league champions despite the plea from manager Wouter Vrancke

Dessers joined Genk from Eredivisie club, Heracles Almelo for €4m in 2020.

The striker who had a swelling 2021/22 season on loan with Feyenoord, guiding them to the final of the maiden UEFA Conference League, scoring 10 goals to emerge as the competition’s top scorer.

He told reporters after Genks 4-2 win against KAS Eupen last Saturday.

“The only thing missing here is a title, but I didn’t feel like there was much of a stretch.”

Dessers added, “Soon I’ll be 28 too.

“That many people have their doubts about Cremonese? I won’t be competing for the title, no. I think I’m showing that I’m versatile enough.

“For me, it was important to be the first striker somewhere. I didn’t want to go to all those beautiful stadiums as a tourist. I want to play effectively and prove myself.”

The 27-year-old also opened up on the risk of getting injured while playing on Saturday and ruining his imminent transfer to the Serie A.

“I would have liked to have scored a goal, but I am delighted that we were able to win and that I was able to celebrate with the audience,” he said.
