Drama as teams fail to honor Aiteo Cup match, states that “they’re waiting for instructions from their club chairs”

The Aiteo Cup quarter final match between Heartland FC of Owerri and Katsina United that was scheduled to take place at the Kwara State Stadium Complex in Ilorin has been abandoned by both clubs.

Match Commissioner, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Owopawo Wopa claims that all required arrangements have been made for the game and the present match officials.

Both teams who have formally announced their presence at the stadium choose to remain still and wait for the “from above” call.

Even after paying to enter, fans who made it to the stadium felt embarrassed. They expressed their outrage at the incident, which the majority of them described as showing disrespect towards the game.

It’s important to note that neither of the teams, who have already been demoted from the nation’s premier league, entered the field and as situation unfold before being let go from the facility at around 4:55 p.m.

It is yet to be ascertained if this is related to the recent events involving Kwara United being forced to compete in the CAF confederations Cup when the Aiteo Cup is still going on and nearing its conclusion.
