FIFA U20 WWC: South Korea W U20 0-1 Nigeria W U20: Falconets Completes Treble Over Korea Republic

Nigeria’s Super Falconets defeats  their Asian counterparts for the third time in a row. Before tonight, Nigeria have met Korea Republic at the age grade level on two occasions.

Nigeria won their two meetings with Korea Republic in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

A match that had to begin behind schedule due to weather conditions was full of captivating moves as expected and it was one to not blink an eye from.

Esther Onyenezide’s goal via a lovely long range shot ensures the Falconets get the 3 points and top group C with 6 points.

The Falconets of Nigeria have now qualified for the quarterfinals of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, beating Korea Republic to win their second consecutive match at the tournament.

Both sides first met on 19 August, 2012, in Japan, when Nigeria romped to a 2-0 win in their group match.

Their second meeting was on 9 August, 2014, in Canada and it was in the group stage, which eventually ended in a 2-1 scoreline in favour of Nigeria.

In the earlier meetings, Nigeria finished top of the group and Korea finished second, with both teams qualifying for the knockout stage.

A similar feat is about to play as the Falconets are now guaranteed an automatic qualification for the quarter-final.
