Kwara United on Sunday began their campaign in the CAF Confederations Cup on a winning note beating visiting AS Douanes 3-0 in their first leg tie of the preliminary stage.
Going into this match at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, Kwara United players had vowed to make Kwarans happy and they did not disappoint considering their brilliant performance.
Kwara United started the encounter with much energy and they had to wait until the 5th minute before netting their first goal through Paul Samson.
Wasiu Jimoh added the second goal for Kwara United in the 17th minute via a penalty before grabbing his brace in the 40th minute as the first half ended 3-0 in favour of the Harmony Boys.
AS Douanes Came out more agile in the second half, but despite them creating few chances, they were unable to find the back of the net.
Ayobami Junior would have scored the 4th goal for Kwara United at the death after being set up by Kabiru Balogun, but his shot went over the bar.
Kwara United coach Azeez Mohammed expressed happiness after the 3-0 win over AS Douanes stressing that his wards will finish the job in the second leg.
The Harmony Boys will be traveling to Niger for the second leg encounter against AS Douanes which will be played this coming Sunday.
