Celtic Right Back Breaks Silence On Why He Will Choose To Play For Germany Over Nigeria

Celtic defender Moritz Jenz has revealed why he will choose to play for Germany’s national team ahead of Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Jenz has already made eight appearances for Celtic this season, scoring twice and keeping three clean sheet as he enjoys a perfect start to life at Scotland.

The 23-year-old is on loan from Terrem Moffi and Innocemt Bonke’s FC Lorient in France and has settled down quickly in Scotland.

The right back of Nigeria descent believes his recent form and ability will earn him a call up to the German national team soon, noting that he is also not ready to play for the Super Eagles.

Jenz told Glasgow Times. “I qualify for Germany and Nigeria but I would prefer Germany because that’s where I grew up, ”

“It’s a great country to play for an hopefully one day I can make a couple of appearances, then maybe a couple more and then, who knows, perhaps play in a World Cup or Euros.

“But I need to do my best for the club first. That’s the most important thing and after that we can talk about the national team.”

However, Nigeria Football Federation has been able to convince some dual citizens to play for the Super Eagles including Alex Iwobi, Maduka Okoye, Leon Balogun, Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo, Ola Aina, Kevin Akpoguma and Cyriel Dessers.
