RS Berkane Becomes fifth Moroccan Club to win CAF Super Cup

The winners of the 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup, Renaissance Sportive de Berkane beat Wydad Athletic Club who are the holders of the CAF Champions League 2-0 on Saturday to win the 31st edition of the CAF Super Cup.

Goals from Cherki El Bahri in the 32nd minute and Sofian El Moudane from the penalty spot in the 71st minute were all the Berkanis needed to emerge victorious in the Moroccan derby.

RS Berkane thus clinched their first-ever CAF Super Cup trophy at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.

Meanwhile, Wydad, who added their name to the list of winners of the competition in 2018, missed an opportunity to add a second catch to their bag.

He succeeded in keeping the Berkanis’ goal untouched throughout the game and played a huge role in the victory.

RS Berkane’s season begins most beautifully.

The club, led by the Algerian Abdelhak Benchikha, since the departure of the Congolese coach Florent Ibengé, surprised spectators with their control of the game and clearly showed their ambitions for this new season.

RS Berkane becomes the fifth Moroccan Club to win the CAF Super League after Raja CA who have won it twice, Maghreb de Fès , and Wydad AC.
